CBG Harvest Festival Volunteers

This is the largest event for generating revenue and attracting new members. We need a good number of volunteers to make this happen.
What does volunteering entail?
Setup Day
Michael Zost volunteers to drive to several farms in Indiana to get all of the apples we use for sampling and selling. He’s happy to do this, but could really use help to unload ALLLL of the apples once he arrives at the Chicago Botanic Garden.
We also need some volunteers to go to the storage facility to pick up supplies, the cider press, etc, then unloading and setting up at the CBG.
Saturday & Sunday
On Saturday and Sunday, we need people to help work the event. That entails the following:
- Annie and Michael handle transactions, so don’t worry about that.
- People are needed to help hand out apple samples, restock apple samples, paw paw samples, and cider samples. We need about 10 people for this per day.
- Help running the cider press (people are very excited to watch this, especially kids!) It’s manual so you’ll get in some good workout time. This takes about 3 people each day. Perfect Instagram opportunities.
- There’s a membership ‘desk’ to recruit new members (just talk about the club and what you like to grow, it’s easy).
- General people milling about to talk about apples, growing fruit, answering questions. Don’t be afraid to volunteer if you don’t know a whole lot about growing the fruit (yet)! I worked the Heirloom fest and easily told people we have a ton of experts who know more than me and that’s why you should join 🙂
- Sunday break-down: always need folks to help pack up and load everything for transport back to club storage in Glenview.
In the “Comments to Share” section of the form, you can write down what you might prefer doing when you volunteer.
You also get free admission and free parking into CBG, so come before or after your shift.
